What’s With the Blog Name?

Aloha and welcome to my new blog. You may be wondering about the name. I love elephants. For the record, I am not a republican. I came up with the name “Elephant Ear” to highlight my affinity for the large creatures, as well as for their legendary ability to remember. Due to their large ears, I believe elephants are great listeners. So I welcome your feedback. And finally as a child, my sister Julie and I loved to eat a pastry called “Elephant Ears“. For the record, no elephants were ever harmed in the pastry baking.

A blog is a very personal thing. It reflects the inner thoughts and attitudes of its creator. I am always amazed at how other people seem to think that they have a right/responsibility/imperative to “help” you name your blog with criticism and well-meaning insight into what your blog “should” be named.
You have named your blog Elephant Ear and have explained the name beautifully. So much so, that I have become inspired (yes, inspired!) to go to my own blog and explain why I chose the name I did. Even though I don’t think I have a duty to explain it to anyone — it’s my intellectual property. Nonetheless I found your explanation so lovely and insightful, I’m going to run right over to my own blog and copy, er….. be inspired to create a little box explaining the somewhat controversial name of my own business blog http://BizBitchBlog.blogspot.com
